Hello, we are glad to welcome you to Stubborn Interior Design, also now as SID. My name is Kelley Safe and I am the manager for Stubborn Interior Design. We are an Interior Design company located in Greensboro North Carolina and High Point North Carolina. High Point North Carolina is the furniture town so we are in the best location. High Point is known for having big furniture stores and we're happy to say we are one of them. We have everything you could be looking for. We have couches, bedding, dressers, and more! Come stop by and see what we have. We have every style you could possibly think of from modern to classic. We have not just furniture for adults but also for kids. Our employees are always helpful and can find you the perfect item to fit your house. We tend to get super busy around Christmas time which is great but we are really hoping to get to the point where we are busy every day. High Point and Greensboro arent the busiest places so we are looking to have more locations for our customers in order to make it easier for them to get furniture from our store. Our goal by the end of this year is to have two more locations. We are hoping to have two more stores which would be located in Charlotte and Raleigh. We recently started this company around 10 years ago so it is still a little new. It all started when the owner was thinking of ideas for the perfect place to buy furniture. After years of planning it finally happened. We had our grand opening in 2010 in High Point. In 2015 we opened a new store in Greensboro. We love helping our customers find the perfect item for their house. We always have discounts going on in our store so make sure to check out our website for them so you don't miss out on a big deal! Our biggest sale of the year is black Friday so come stop by to see all the great deals! Even if you can't make it you can go on our website and order furniture that you want and it will be shipped to you for free and even moved in by a paid moving company. We are so happy about our store and are always willing to hear more advice from our customers for things that could be worked on. It is known for them telling false information, but they also do tell information that is on the news.   A topic that I thought was interesting that a group did was someone did long-distance calling. Long-distance calling is when you call someone from a different location outside of your location. An example of that would be if you called someone from a different town or state. The first-ever long-distance call wire was made in February of 1877.  The person that made that call was Alexander Graham Bell who called from Salem in Massachusetts to Boston Massachusetts. The first call out of a state was in 1915, which was from New York to San Fransisco. There are two categories for long-distance which are international and national. A national call is a call that connects two calls in the same country. An international call is a call that is two calls that are made between two different countries.   The term/concept that I decided to do was news dessert. News Desert is an undercovered geographical area that has few/no news outlets and receives little coverage. The news desert dates back to 2011 when it first started. The news desert is also known as the communication desert. A journalist named Lara S. Washington has an article name The Paradox of our Media Age and What to Do About It. Lara S. Washington talked about the community dessert as “a place where vital information does not reach one’s neighborhood”. The community organized talks about how everyone keeps talking about the bad stuff and never talks about the good that is going on in the communities. Since 2011 multiple definitions have emerged. An example of that is a media desert or a news desert is essentially an uncovered area that has few to no outlets to receive news that is going on.
